If you really want to discover what adventure in SCUBA diving is, UDC’s Advanced Open Water course is perfect for you!
During this course, one of our Instructors will guide you during 5 open water specialty dives of your choice. These dives may include Deep, Night, Peak Performance Buoyancy, Wreck, Fish ID and many others. This license allows you to dive anywhere in the world to a maximum depth of 30 metres/100 feet without professional supervision (where local laws allow).

You will experience famous local dive sites like Utila’s Halliburton Wreck (a cargo ship that lies in 30m/100ft of water) or the dramatic drop-offs at the North Side’s ‘Turtle Harbor’. Our fast, comfortable dive boats will take you on exciting wall dives on the North Side of Utila and in addition to seeing amazing aquatic life and stunning drop-offs and diving sheer walls, you may get lucky and see a whale shark!
If you have not been diving for a while we require that you complete a refresher course prior to starting your course. We require a refresher if the following applies: If you have less than 20 dives and have not dived for 6 months,or if you have less than 50 dives and have not dived in a year, or finally if you have less than 100 dives and have not dived in 2 years. During this refresher you will be working directly with one of our Instructors and going over the basic dive theory, basic safety skills as well as equipment and buoyancy. They will make sure that by the end of your course you feel confident and excited to get back underwater and enjoy our beautiful reefs!

During your course, we’ll train you on how to use a dive computer, an essential tool for divers! We are the only Dive Centre on the island that can offer this service, and with a dive computer you will have a more enjoyable and thorough dive experience!

The tranquil gardens of the Mango Inn are the perfect location in this tropical paradise for a low stress learning environment, and you are no more than a 10 minute walk to our dive center.
